Archer Specialist Recruitment

A huge disappointment!

I got a call from one of their "recruiters" Jack Edward Quinn for an internal role as a Business Development Representative with Archer Recruitment. The first call with him was good, he asked me questions about my current role, experience, etc. He then called me back to schedule an interview with their Director Kieran Tumulty, I accepted the interview and booked the time off from my current role.

On the day of the interview, I joined the Google Meet and waited for 20 minutes for someone to join. I emailed Jack to ask if someone was going to attend the interview or if he would like to reschedule, and received no response. I decided to call him on his direct line, which only resulted in being directed to voicemail after a couple of rings.

With no other option, and a genuine fear of missing an interview and job opportunity, I called their offices and a member of the team transferred my call to Jack. I explained that I was waiting for the Director to join the meeting. Jack presented me with little care or compassion for the inconvenience this far and adopted an unprofessional tone. Jack casually said “Oh the interview got cancelled you did not see my email and the call, sorry about that bye, bye bye" and terminated the call!

Let’s bear in mind that this was a recruiter working for their own employer to recruit for an internal role and not a client of Archer Recruitment. I can only hope that client who retain the services of Archer receive a better service!

I did not have the opportunity to ask if the interview got cancelled for any particular reason or if it was going to be rescheduled. I went to check my email and my calls to see if it was my mistake and to no surprise, I had no missed calls or emails to notify me of the interview cancellation.

I called the office and made this known to Archer, an wanted to bring the lack of professionalism in handling the situation to their attention. Very disappointing!

Jack called back to apologise and came up with the most insignificant excuse that he emailed the wrong person internally (let’s not concern ourselves with the data security risk, although I would have expected they would double check the correct recipient was on an email, particularly when handling confidential information, should Jack have sent an email at all)

Overall, I count this whole mess as a blessing as I certainly would rather avoid working for a company that tolerates an employee treating a potential candidate for a role in such a way. Again, you would imagine extra care would be taken when recruiting for themselves as I was a potential candidate for their organisation!

How is this company getting 5 stars. 1 recruiter sent me an invite to apply for a decent enough role. I replied back that I was interested. Even sent my cv on their website. Useless and lazy with no response back. 0/10
